Cambridge-Lee Industries Level Wound Coils
A level wound coil from Cambridge-Lee is a long length of tube that
is uniformly and tightly spooled in layers parallel to the axis of the
coil. Such coils are used for a wide variety of applications in many
industries.Key Benefits
- Materials
- Type DHP (UNS C12200) Copper. This material meets the
requirements of ASTM B743, B68 and B75 specifications.
- Cleanliness and Appearance
- As checked to the requirements of specification B280,
any residue on the inside of the tube will not exceed .0035 gm/ft²
(.0377 g/m²). Both the inside and outside diameter surfaces will be clean
and bright, with the finish being smooth and free from slivers, scale, open
grain and major metal defects such as inclusions. Level wound coils with
insignificant surface damage, such as minor dents that will not interfere
with the tubing's end use, will be shipped.
- Coil Weight
- Nominal Weight standards for Cambridge-Lee Level
Wound coils are 200 pounds (90 kg) and 400 pounds (180 kg). In any single
shipment, coils with weights that are less than these nominal standards -
and as low as 100 pounds (40.82 kg) - will be included on the basis of 80
percent nominal weight and 20 percent lighter weight.
- Coils with non-standard weights and/or lengths can be
furnished on special order. Please consult Cambridge-Lee's Sales Department.
- Temper
- At Cambridge-Lee, the yield strength of a carefully
hand-straightened sample from any strand in a level wound coil will not
exceed 15,000 psi (103 Mpa).
- Soft Anneal - .040 mm Minimum average grain size
- Light Anneal - .040 mm Maximum average grain size
- Hard Drawn - 45,000 psi (310 MPI) minimum tensile
- However, to meet customer requirements, Cambridge-Lee
can furnish special tempers on request. Please discuss your needs with our
sales department.
- Packaging
- Cambridge-Lee furnishes level wound coils both with
and without reels. When customers don't require reels, coils are banded and
carefully bulk packed in sturdy pallet-type, corrugated fiberboard
containers to help prevent damage in shipment. Reels, when specified, are
constructed of corrugated fiberboard and the reeled coils are
palletized for ease in shipment and customer storage.
- All reels have arbor holes with a 5" (127.0 mm)
diameter and the reels' overall diameters are 38" (965.2 mm) or 41" (1041.4
mm). The traverse, or height, of the coiled reels is, nominally 9.5" (241.3
mm) or 11" (279.4 mm).
